Abstract

861,504. Vibrating rollers. VIBRO-VERKEN A.B. Oct. 29, 1959 [Nov. 12, 1958], No: 36682/59. Class 6(1). Apparatus for compacting the ground, particularly clayish ground, comprises a frame 1, a heavy roller 2 having ground-penetrating studs, projections, spikes or the like 3, and means driven by a motor 8 for imparting vibrations to the roller. The vibrator is of known kind, is driven by the belt 9 and comprises two axially spaced units each having a circular rolling track for a ball which is driven around the track by an arm keyed to the shaft 5. The vibrations are amplified by an eccentric weight between the spaced units. The frame 1 is suspended from the roller cylinder by resilient members 13 so that vibrations are not transmitted to the frame.
