A fountain pen cap comprises a cylindrical body portion 1 closed at one end by a cap 2, and a spring metal sleeve 4 secured to the portion 1 by a collar 6 bonded thereto by a solvent. The sleeve 4 has longitudinal slots 7, the portions 8 of the sleeve lying between the slots being deformed slightly towards the axis of the sleeve. The body portion 1 may be of material sold under the Registered Trade Mark "Diakon" in which case the collar may be of polystyrene and the solvent may be acetone.
