859,542. Feeding webs. TIMSON, E. A. Oct. 29, 1958 [Oct. 30, 1957], No. 28665/60. Divided out of 859,386. Class 100(1) An apparatus for continuously rewinding a web W<SP>2</SP>, e.g. delivered from a reel-fed printing machine, comprises an endless belt 15 which feeds the leading end of the web W2, after cutting by a knife 20, to an empty spool R<SP>3</SP>, such that it is pressed firmly against and is caused to adhere to the spool. After a length of web W<SP>2</SP> has been wound on the spool R<SP>3</SP>, the spool R3 is moved from the position S<SP>2</SP> to the rewinding position S previously occupied by a full roll R2. The full roll R<SP>2</SP> is thus moved to an unloading position S<SP>1</SP>. Arms 12, 13, 14 carrying the rolls are intermittently rotated. The belt 15 is guided round rollers 18 one of which is driven, e.g. by the printing or other machine, and is tensioned by a jockey pulley 16.
