In a combined invalid wheel chair and sanitary closet the latter is housed under the chair seat 6, movable to give access to the closet, comprising a receptacle 11 at the mouth of which is an annular seat 9 on which is an annular guide 12 with walls converging downwardly into the receptacle 11 and means for flushing the guide walls. This means comprises a reservoir 18, a reciprocating pump 19, conduit 22, 24 therefrom to the pipe 16 and openings 17 in the guide 12, a non-return valve 23, and an inlet conduit 20 with a non-return valve 21. The chair has a foot rest 2, a backsupport 3 on the housing 1 for the closet, a back rest 4 hinged at 5 to the support 3 and at 7 to the seat 6, and an arm 8, hingeable downwards and outwards at 8A in using the closet, between which and the pump 19 is a connection to actuate it on hingeing movement of the arm 8. The seat 9 is hingeable upwards at 10 for removing the receptacle 11 and filling the reservoir 18. The guide 12 sealingly engages the receptacle rim 11A, and a hinged flap 13 is mounted at the lower end of the guide walls for completely closing the receptacle 11, and is to connected to the chair seat 6 that by moving it the receptacle 11 is opened or closed. The chair has a pair of rubbertipped feet which support its rear with the wheels 1B clear of the floor, or vice-versa, on hinging the other arm 8. The chair may, alternatively, be braked by lever-operated brake-blocks engaging the rear wheels through a lever at the front of the chair. At least one of the arms 8 consists of a box-shaped receptacle for toilet requisites having an opening 8B, the arms 8 when erect being held by spring catches engaging in recesses in arm supports 3A and released by handles 8C. According to the Provisional Specification a gravity feed pipe leads from the tank through a non-return valve to a rubber bag under the housing floor and pressed against it by a plate bolted thereto. When the seat is occupied, the receptacle moves down against spring action and the bag is released, water flowing from the tank downwards through the valves. On vacating the seat, the bag is compressed and water is sprayed into the guide.
