Abstract

A multi-purpose flushable commode comprises of a commode (8) integrated with a specially adapted, adjustable chair (1,7) mounted on wheeled frames (14,18), the frames being adapted to raise and lower, with the back rest (1) adjustable and the chair provided with feet rest (17) and tyres capable of 360 degrees rotation, adjustable/detachable arms rest (16) and head rest (22) and a seat belt (21) for securing vulnerable users, in which the commode has an additional sanitary unit comprised of detachable devices fitted onto it, and is capable of use as a means of indoor and outdoor mobility and recreation. At the base of the frames a wheeled base (18) with four motorised wheels (11) and braking mechanism (20) are provided. A motorised means of control may be incorporated as optional.

MULTI-PURPOSE FLUSHAB
A commode is a well known toileting device. There is a special type of commode which is secured to a specially adapted chair secured onto a wheeled frame. This type of commode is not flushable nor does it contain additional sanitary devices and are relatively limited in the tasks that they can be used for. They can only be used for toileting.
An object of this invention is to provide a commode known as the multipurpose flushable commode in which the commode has additional detachable devices fitted onto it with means of flushing, waste collection, disinfection and de-odorisation, and is capable of use as a means of mobility in addition to serving as a reclining chair for indoor and outdoor recreation. It is envisaged that the sanitary unit will be made of plastic, with the wheeled frame made of a light alloy or aluminium.
Accordingly, in the present invention there is provided a multi-purpose commode comprising of a specially adapted, adjustable chair mounted on a wheeled stem, the stem being adapted to rise and lower, with the chair adjustable, capable of folding and reclining between ninety and one hundred and eighty degrees, and provided with adjustable feet rest, arm rests and head rest and a seat belt for securing vulnerable users.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1/5 shows in perspective, the multi-purpose flushable commode in normal position; Figure 2/5 illustrates the commode in a folded position; Figures 3/5 to 5/5 illustrate the technical details of the means of flushing, waste collection, disinfection and de-odorisation.
Referring to the drawing (Figures 1/5 and 5/5), the commode comprises of adjustable frames (14) and a cushioned chair (1 and 7) provided with arms and head rests (16 and 21), detachable water-proof cushioned seat (7), a detachable commode (8), a detachable water-proof commode cover (23), means of reclining and folding (not shown), a detachable water tank (2), a flush mechanism (4), a detachable disinfectant/de-odorant tank (3), a detachable waste receptor tank (10), a water delivery hose (6), a waste receptor hose (9), a waste discharge hose (12) and a wheeled base (18) releasably secured to the frames by, for example, some bolts and nuts or similar means. At the rear of the wheeled base a waste receptor tank holder (11) is provided, with four wheels (19) capable of 360 degrees turning provided and a braking mechanism (20) incorporated to the bottom of the wheeled base. A motorised control (not shown) which can be used to steer the commode and to adjust the frames (14), the back rest (1) and the feet rest (17) to the desired height, angle or position may be fitted to the wheeled base as optional.

Claims (12)

1. A multi-purpose flushable commode comprising of a specially adapted chair mounted on a wheeled frame, the frame being adapted to raise and lower, with the chair capable of folding and reclining and provided with adjustable feet rest, arms and head rests and a seat belt for securing vulnerable users.
2. A multi-purpose flushable commode as claimed in Claim 1 wherein detachable means are provided to flush, collect and de-odorise the user's by-product.
3. A multi-purpose flushable commode as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2, wherein a motorised means of control that can be used to steer the wheeled base and to adjust the chair, the back rest and the feet rest to various angles, heights and positions may be provided as optional.

A multi-purpose flushable commode as claimed in Claim 2 or Claim 3, wherein a detachable commode with detachable delivery, receptor and discharge hoses are incorporated into the chair and integrated with a detachable water tank, a flush mechanism, a detachable disinfectant and deodorant tank, and a detachable waste receptor tank.
5. A multi-purpose flushable commode as claimed in Claim 4, wherein the chair is provided with a cushioned waterproof commode cover fitted with a base designed to fit tightly into the mouth of the commode.
6. A multi-purpose flushable commode as claimed in Claim 5, wherein the detachable water tank is provided with means of flushing the commode.
7. A multi-purpose flushable commode as claimed in Claim 6, wherein the detachable disinfectant and deodorant tank is integrated with the detachable water tank.
8. A multi-purpose flushable commode as claimed in Claim 4, Claim 5, Claim 6 or Claim 7 wherein the sanitary unit is adapted to co-operate with the wheeled frame to ensure mobility.
9. A multi-purpose flushable commode as claimed in Claim 8, wherein adjustable arms, feet and head rests are provided.
10. A multi-purpose flushable commode as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the deodorant tank and the waste receptor tank are provided with mini-taps for regulating the outflow of their contents.
11. A multi-purpose flushable commode as claimed in Claim 10, wherein the stems are integrated with the wheeled base, with the latter provided with four wheels at its bottom capable of turning 360 degrees.
12. A multi-purpose flushable commode substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-5 of the accompanying drawings.
