Abstract

858,501. Typewriters; feeding webs. SMITH & SON (ALACRA) Ltd., W. H. Feb. 13, 1957 [Feb. 13, 1956], No. 4402/56. Classes 100(1) and 100(4) For advancing web material 40 having marginal feed perforations e.g. continuous stationery, an endless flexible band 30 is provided having pins 31 on its outer surface to engage the perforations and projections 32 on its inner surface by which it is driven, the pins 31 and projections 32 being moulded with and as integral parts of the band from rubber, plastic or like mouldable flexible material. As shown, the projections 32, which may be bars or rounded bosses, are received in sockets 33 in a driving pulley 16b, a groove 34 being provided in an idler pulley 17b to receive the projections. Two grooved pulleys 35, 36 provide a straight portion 37 of the band for engagement with the paper web 40 which passes over a feed plate 42 slotted for the passage of the pins. The band 30 may have holes between the projections 32 for engaging a driving sprocket the teeth of which may be spaced and shaped to serve as additional web-feeding pins.
