Abstract

1375776 Selective printing INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 10 May 1972 [21 June 1971] 21693/72 Heading B6F Endless-bond type carrier.-A selective printer includes a continuous belt 10 with teeth disposed on its inner and outer surfaces. The inner teeth are engaged by a pair of sprockets 26, one of which is continuously driven. Each of a plurality of printing elements 14 includes a supporting shoe 42 provided with teeth for engagement with the outer teeth of the belt 10. Each shoe also includes a pair of resiliently operable guiding arms 54, 56 which coact with a guiding shoulder 60 of the cartridge (24, Fig. 1) mounting the band 10 and sprockets 26. The printing elements may be integrally constructed from plastics material (Fig. 5) and the outer teeth of the belt 10 and the teeth of the shoes 42 may be replaced by other co-operating projections.
