Abstract

856,572. Weighing apparatus. B-I-F INDUSTRIES Inc. May 9, 1957, No. 14791/57. Class 143 [Also in Group XXIV] The weight of material in a flexibly supported housing 13 having a screw conveyer 14 therein delivering from a hopper 10 is maintained constant by means of a weighbeam 20 with a counterpoise 22 which is adapted to actuate through linkage 26, 27 a control shaft of a regulator 28. This regulator comprises a mechanical relay (see Group XXIV) which drives a chain sprocket 96 in one direction or the other in response to movement of the said control shaft. The sprocket 96 drives a sprocket 98 of an adjusting shaft of a variable speed transmission 9 for the screw conveyer 14 whereby the rate of feed of the material is regulated. The regulator could alternatively adjust a gate for controlling the rate of feed.
