Abstract

852,705. Bottle-stoppers. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. Jan. 2, 1959 [March 27, 1958], No. 9921/58. Class 125(3). A plastic cover for a crown-cork bottle, which can be used when the crown-cork has been discarded, has an annular skirt 1 closed by a crown 2, an annular rib 3 on the interior of the skirt spaced from the crown by such a distance that it will engage the bead on the neck of the bottle when placed directly thereon, and a plurality of sills 10 formed by the ends of slots 11 in the skirt, the sills being spaced from the bottom of the skirt by a distance such that they will engage under the edge of the cap 5 when the cover is placed thereover. The crown includes a plug 8 to enter the bottle mouth when the cover is used alone. The Provisional Specification also describes and illustrates a cover having no slots but a second annular rib taking the place of the sills.
