Abstract

852,495. Hinges and pivots. GRETSCHUNITAS G.m.b.H. July 22,1958, No. 23520/58. Class 65(2). A lifting device for a door or casement window includes a lifting member 4, bearing on the underside of the hinge leaf and vertically displaceable by means of a handle 15 which is pivotally mounted at 16 on the lifting member and hung from a base plate 2 secured to the door or window frame by a link 17. The lifting member 4 is guided in vertical slots in the base member by spigots 6. The hinge pin 12 is fixed relative to the lifting member 4 by a screw 14 engaging a groove 13 in the pin. In a second embodiment (Figs. 9 to 13, not shown) the lifting member is the hinge pin which is hung from the base plate by a pair of symmetrical links enbracing the pin. The link 17 may be biased to move clockwise about pivot 18 as by a leaf spring on the remote side of the base plate bearing on a nose passing through the base plate and forming an upward extension of the link.
