Abstract

850,658. Electric furnaces. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. Aug. 23, 1957 [Sept. 29, 1956], No. 26732/57. Addition to 805,172. Class 39(3). [Also in Groups XII and XXVIII] A vacuum furnace comprises a double-walled jacket 1 for liquid coolant in which is mounted a crucible 9 surrounded by a water-cooled induction coil 10. The furnace is evacuated by a diffusion pump 16 (see Group XXVIII). If the material to be treated is not suitable for induction heating the coil 10 may be replaced by one or more heating elements which transmit heat by radiation to the material being treated.
