Abstract

850,456. Switch cases; hand actuating devices for switches. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Dec. 2, 1958 [Dec. 11, 1957], No. 38789/58. Class 38 (5). A switch (not shown), which may be that of Specification 416,683, is arranged in an enclosure with an openable cover 11 which carries an external handle 13 with a part passing through the cover to operate a resilient member 23 which has an opening 34 for receiving the actuating handle of the switch, the member 23 being formed of an organic elastomeric material, e.g. nylon. The handle 13 carries a cam 17 inside the enclosure, the cam having a pin 18 engaged in a slot 19 in a slide 21 to which the member 23 is adjustably secured by screws 24. The cover is locked in the " ON " position by a spring-pressed lever 37 pivoted at 38 and having a lug 42 passing below a fixed lug 45 on the enclosure, the lever 37 being deflected by a surface 46 on cam 17 to release the cover when the handle is in the "OFF" position. The screw 38 is fixed to lever 37 so that the latter may be deflected by turning the screw from outside the enclosure.
