Abstract
849,378. Connecting-rods; swash plate engines. NEW YORK AIR BRAKE CO. April 9,1958 [June 20, 1957], No. 11191/58. Classes 122 (1) and 122 (3). [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXIX] A swash plate engine piston comprises a central core 11 having secured thereto a wear sleeve 13 and formed with a spherical head 16 engaged by a shoe comprising two parts 18, 24 slidable one on the other, each part having a spherical surface engaging with the head 16 ; the part 18 has a face 22 for engagement with a return plate and the part 24 a face for engagement with the swash plate, the latter face having a pressure balancing recess 26 communicating with the piston head through a restricted bore 28.
