Abstract
847,276. Dynamo-electric machine core constructions and casings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Sept. 3, 1958 [Sept. 11, 1957], No. 28644/57. Class 35. In a dynamo-electric machine e.g. turbo alternator having a stator core 1 mounted in an inner frame 9 supported in an outer frame 4 by resilient vibration absorbing means, the latter comprise a number of beam springs 8 arranged parallel to and spaced around the machine axis, and the frames are respectively connected to the beam springs at alternate positions spaced longitudinally of the machine, the springs being substantially rigid in the longitudinal and tangential directions but flexible in the radial direction of the machine so as to permit a limited relative radial movement between the frames. As shown, each spring 8, of laminated plates, extends the whole length of the inner frame 9 but alternatively it may comprise two or more longitudinally spaced springs. The inner frame 9 comprises longitudinal bars 2 and annular longitudinally spaced ribs 3 to which the springs are welded, while within a horizontally split casing 7 is the outer frame 4 comprising longitudinal bars 5 and longitudinally spaced annular ribs 6 to which are bolted connecting plates 12 of the springs.
