Abstract
845,960. Circuits employing bi-stable magnetic elements. ATVIDABERGS INDUSTRIER A.B. Oct. 20, 1958 [Oct. 22, 1957], No. 33487/58. Class 40 (9). A plurality of saturable magnetic elements 1a-1d, Fig. 1, having the same dimensions and formed of material with a rectangular hysteresis loop each have a driving coil 2a-2d with a different number of turns, the application of a driving current I of increasing amplitude causing each element to reverse its magnetic state in turn so that a train of pulses d-a, Fig. 3, is produced in a common read-out coil 5, while a separate pulse is produced sequentially in each of further and separate read-out coils 4a-4d associated with the elements. The elements may comprise separate toroidal cores or apertures in a common structure. The interval between successive pulses depends on the difference in the number of driving coil turns on each element, if this difference is slight the pulses overlap and a single output pulse of prolonged duration is obtained in coil 5 as shown in Fig. 4b. In Fig. 5, a further read-out winding 6 is provided which is loaded by a resistor 7 so as to extend the duration of changeover of each element in turn. A modification is to have the same number of turns in each driving coil and a different number of turns in each section of the loaded read-out winding 6 associated with respective elements. It is stated that reversal of state of the cores may be further influenced by relative dimensions and material of each core.
