Abstract

845,205. Wall-plugs and bushes. PLUMMER, A. July 10, 1957 [March 6, 1957], No. 7464/57. Class 89(1) Means for securing together two or more components 11, 12, comprises a selftapping-screw 21 engaging an unthreaded deformable-nut 20 of synthetic-resin or thermo-plastic material, having at least one diametrical-slot 29 extending from the entering-end to a point short of the flange 24. The nut has a bore 26 tapering inwards towards the slottedend, and in use the nut 20 is inserted in one component and then deformed by the screw 21. The nut may be fluted externally, and may be deformed in the wall &c. by a tool, not shown, before insertion of the screw. The outside diameter of the nut approximates to. its overall length.
