A stationary storage tank for liquids consists of two containers a, c, one within the other, the outer container a being of concrete and the inner container c of flexible material impermeable to liquid, the inner container being sus-. pended from the upper part of the outer container. The outer container has a cover-like top b with an opening b<SP>1</SP> in it. The neck of the inner container c is clamped upon an internal shoulder in this opening by a ring e. The opening b<SP>1</SP> in the cover b is provided with a cover-plate f. As shown in Fig. 1, the tank is sunk in the earth. The bottom a<SP>1</SP> of the container a slopes towards one side. An inspection shaft a<SP>2</SP> is built in one with the body of the container a. An outlet g at the lowest point of the container bottom a<SP>1</SP> opens into the shaft a<SP>2</SP>. By means of this inspection shaft tests can be made to see if the inner container c is still liquid tight.
