Abstract
834,719. X-ray apparatus. TRIGGS, W. W. (Picker X-Ray Corporation Waite Manufacturing Division Inc.). Nov. 4, 1957, No. 34303/57. Class 98(1) In apparatus in which an X-ray tube is immersed in liquid in a container, a leak detecting bellows operated switch is immersed in liquid in an auxiliary container in communication with the main container and the bellows is expanded by a compression spring. As shown, spring 34 is guided by fingers 36 attached to base plate 32 and fingers 35 engage the spring to guide the end plate of bellows 31 through container 17 without touching the walls. When the amount of liquid displaced from the auxiliary container to the main container is such that the end plate contacts switch operating member 30, switch 20 is actuated and the X-ray tube is disconnected from its source of supply. The switch operates through relays (Fig. 4, not shown) to interrupt the circuit of the primary of the X-ray tube high voltage transformer and to light a warning lamp.
