Abstract
832,138. Extruding. COMPTOIR INDUSTRIEL D'ETIRAGE ET PROFILAGE DE METAUX. March 26, 1958 [Sept. 6, 1957], No. 9759/58. Class 83 (4). In the hot-extrusion of tubular metal sections a, hollow billet 4 is used having at its rear end a flared lubricant chamber 6, and a sleeve 7 of vitreous lubricant is placed behind the billet on the press mandrel 3 to provide adequate lubricant in the chamber for the final stage of the extrusion. The sleeve 7 may be of solid or woven glass or glass fibre. A tube 8 of glass cloth is also placed over the mandrel to enter the bore of the billet and a glass disc is provided in front of the billet. The flared chamber 6 may be machined in the billet. A press disc 2 is placed in front of the ram 1. Specification 607,285 is referred to.
