830,759. Spectacle frames. MECCANOPTICA LEONARDS S.p.A. Oct. 7, 1957 [Oct. 18, 1956], No. 31352/57. Class 97(1) [Also in Group XXV] Each side arm of a spectacle frame is connected to the lens frame thereof by two elements 3, 5, which as shown are U- shaped, having a common pivot pin 7 which engages slots 6 in the element 5 and is urged towards one end of these slots by a spring 10 connected to element 5. The flanges of U-shaped element 5 have orthogonally disposed faces 12, 12<SP>1</SP>. By this arrangement angular displacement of the side arm causes axial movement thereof with respect to the frame against the action of the spring which tends to return the side arm towards either its open or its closed position. Such spring loading also occurs when the side arm is open beyond its normal stable open position, so that a slight pressure is always exerted on the side of the head of a person wearing the spectacles.
