Abstract

829,675. Batch mixing apparatus. MOL - LER, R. March 5, 1958, No. 7049/58. Class 86 Mixing, kneading and squelching apparatus, comprises a circular vessel 1, Fig. 1, a stirring arm 2, having strippers 3, 4 mounted for rotation on a shaft 5 extending through the bottom of the vessel, and an elongated binary 17 extending below and parallel to the bottom and adjacent the shaft, the housing accommodating two parallel interengaging conveyer worms 11 (only one of which is shown in Fig. 2) which withdraw materials from the vessel through an aperture 12 and return the materials to the vessel through an aperture 13. The shaft 5 is driven from a sprocket wheel 6 whilst the worms 11 are driven by gear wheels 16. A rake 14, adjustable by a lever 15, for squeezing and squelching purposes, is provided in the aperture 13. A feed hopper 7 and discharge shoot 8 are closable by slides 9, 10. When discharging the vessel, the direction of rotation of the worms is reversed.
