Abstract

829,017. Locking nuts. WRIGLEY, R. A. Oct. 13, 1956, No. 31239/56. Class 89(1) A lock-washer 15, Fig. 2, and nut 16 assembly, for use in combination with a resilient washer 14, Fig. 4, on a screwed bolt 13, comprises radial teeth 17 on both faces of the washer, and similar teeth 20 on the bearing face of the nut. The assembly is used, e.g. for securing a toilet seat on a toilet bowl, the teeth on one face of the washer biting into the resilient washer which becomes compressed against the bowl as the nut is tightened. The slope of the teeth is in the same direction as the screw thread, but the inclination thereof is steeper than the thread-pitch. Each tooth oh the nut may span two or more teeth on the washer.
