Class 44 A device for holding towels or the like comprises a base element 10 adapted to be secured to a wall 13 and having a protrusion 15, the element 10 providing a mounting for an inverted hook or V-shaped arm 11 pivoted above and overhanging the protrusion so as to engage thereagainst, the surface of the arm 11 confronting the protrusion being provided with a serrated or otherwise treated surface 21 so that it will grip an article such as a towel between itself and the protrusion 15.
