Abstract
827,740. Automatic circuit - breakers. SQUARE D CO. May 22, 1956 [June 8, 1955], No. 15702/56. Class 38 (5). A circuit-breaker enclosure has openings in its walls forming bearing-surfaces for pivotallysupporting a member which operates or is moved by the circuit-breaker trip device and which is slotted to receive a bar member for coupling to an adjacent similar circuit-breaker for unitary operation on overload. In the application to the circuit-breaker of Specification 788,044, an additional lever 70 is pivoted in the casing on its bearings 73, 74 and has a limb 76 and a spring 85 fixed in a hole 84. When the end 34 of a lever 31 is in the latched position shown, the spring 85 presses against a pin 40 thereon, but when end 34 is released by the trip assembly 6, pin 40 presses against surface 75 to rotate lever 70. This lever has a square off-set hole 81, through which it is possible to pass a rod 86 to couple-up the levers 70 of two or more similar circuit-breakers so that they move together, and the heels 77 of levers 70 will deflect their assemblies 6 to trip the other breakers on operation of any one of them. In an assembly of more than one breaker, only one spring 85 is required as it will reset all the levers 70 when it is lifted by pin 40 during the breaker resetting operation. The operating levers 35 may be connected together, for joint operation, by means of pins 87. Specifications 793,885 and 827,733 also are referred to.
