825,626. Bogies for rail vehicles. SCHWEIZERISCHE LOKOMOTIVUND MASCHINENFABRIK. Jan. 23, 1956 [Feb. 15, 1955], No. 2135/56. Class 103(6) In a rail vehicle comprising two end bogies guiding the vehicle body and at least one intermediate bogie having a swing bolster and which is transversely movable relative to the vehicle body, the bolster is arranged for transverse movement relative to the intermediate bogie and to the vehicle body and connecting means are provided between the body and the bolster so that the transverse displacements of the bolster amount to a fraction of the transverse displacements of the bogie with respect to the vehicle body. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 3, longitudnal beams 6 on the vehicle body 1 are mounted on a transom 15 which is supported from beams 17 on the intermediate bogie frame by rods 31 suspended from a swing bolster 28 supported by springs 18 and links 19. Traction and braking forces are transmitted to the transom 15 through a pivot 21 provided on a transverse part 20 of the bogie. The pivot has a block 26 which is adapted to slide in a slot 27 in the transom 15. In a modification the rods 31 are dispensed with and the swing bolster 28 supports the vehicle body 1 by rubber supports. Lateral movement b of the bolster 28, occasioned for example when the vehicle rounds a curve, has a predetermined ratio to the lateral displacement a of the bogie. The beams 17 are supported as shown in Fig. 6 on axle boxes 23 by springs 22. Figs. 5, 6 and 7 show an arrangement in which the vehicle body 1 is supported on the bolster springs 18 by means of the transom 15 and sliding or rolling guideways 29. The part 20 of the bogie frame has an arm 36 to which is pivotally connected a lever 35 connected by a rod 37 to the transom 15 and by a rod 38 to the bolster 28. The lever 35 need not necessarily be horizontal. The end bogies of the vehicle may be of the same construction as the intermediate bogie.
