Abstract

824,877. Fusible cut-outs. BESWICK, D. G. E., BESWICK, K. E., and MELBOURN, W. F. April 3, 1958 [April 3, 1957], No. 10896/57. Class 38 (1). A fuse wire 6 is held axially in an insulating tube 1 by being gripped by the flattened spatulate end portions 7 of metal ferrules 2 cemented on to the ends of the tube 1. Ferrules 2 may have preformed necks 5 to locate them on tube 1 and to protect the latter against crushing when the ferrule ends 7 are compressed to grip the fuse wire. The fuse wire may additionally be soldered to the ferrule ends or they may be indented to provide a better grip. The ferrule ends may be preformed to the shape shown in Fig. 4. Either the parts 3 or the ends 7 of the ferrules may form the fuse contacts and the latter may be apertured for this purpose of for the attachment of flexible wire tails.
