In the moulding of an open-ended hollow glass body (e.g. the cone of a cathode ray tube before the screen is attached) by letting glass ride under centrifugal action up the inside of a rotating mould, the mould is provided with an internally-overhanging rim so shaped and positioned that the thickness of the glass wall near its open end is the same as that of the main part of the body whilst surplus glass is so directed as to form an inwardly-projecting thickened annulus of glass around the inside of the moulded body near its open end. Cutting or cracking off the rim is unnecessary.
