[Also in Group XXX] In a machine for cutting shapes, e.g. cut soles from sheet material, of the kind comprising a cutting member having knives arranged to form a multiple pattern of the shapes to be cut, a pressing member and means for effecting relative traversing movement between the cutting and pressing members, the shapes as they are cut are acted upon by a moving belt or rotating roller which feeds the shapes forwardly to a conveyer or collecting means whilst holding and maintaining them in the orderly rows in which they have been cut. As shown, the pressing member comprises a belt 10, Fig. 1, which passes over an upper roller (not shown) and a lower roller 11 and has a portion 10a which passes over further rollers 12, 13, the portion 10a being spaced above a fixed ramp 14 and serving to direct cut soles to a conveyer 15. The rollers 12, 13, one or both of which are spring-loaded, are carried by and between two pivotally-mounted angularly-adjustable plates 16, After leaving the conveyer 15. alternate rows of cut soles, i.e. left-foot cut soles are directed by means of a driven rubber-covered roller 20, Fig. 2, and the teeth of a comb 21 and taken by an upper conveyer 23 and its associated rubber-covered roller 22 whereas the remaining rows of rightfoot cut soles pass between the teeth of the comb 21 and on to a lower conveyer 24. The separated rows of cut soles are delivered to bins located at the ends of the conveyer belts 23, 24. The rollers 20, 22 are carried by spring-loaded arms 25, 26, respectively.
