Abstract
817,477. Surgical traction apparatus. HOWARD, S., and TURNER, M. W. March 6, 1957 [March 1, 1956], No. 6397/56. Class 81 (2). A traction table is divided transversely into two body-supporting parts, to which the patient is attached, and the parts are drawn apart by a lever mechanism. The upper part 6 is secured to the support frame 5 and has two posts 8 for placing under the patient's armpits. The handle 17, pivoted on a rod 12, is connected through linkage 13, 14 to a lever 15 pivoted to the frame 5 at 16 and also having its upper end joined to the end of the support 10 and through a dynamometer 19, to a traction belt 22. For cervical traction there is also a head rest 33, which may be drawn away from the support by a hand wheel 35.
