Class 132(1) A walking aid comprises a foldable frame structure, V-shaped when open, made up of two side frames A, B pivoted together at the front and supported there on a castor wheel 8, the frames each resting at their rear end on a wheel 17 and carrying hand grips 7 or arm or body supports so arranged that the weight of a person supported by the aid is directed downwardly between the front and rear wheels. Each frame A, B consists of tubes 2, 3, 4 and a front tube connected together and the front tube 5 of the frame A is pivoted on a pin extending between lugs 6, 6a projecting from top and bottom of the front tube 1 of frame B. The pivot spindle of the castor wheel 8 is mounted in the tube 1 and accommodates a rod 11 for operating a pivoted braking plate 10, the rod being depressed by a lever 13 under the influence of a Bowden cable or the like when one of the hand grips 7 is rotated. The hand grips 7, which may be detachable and may be replaced by crutch heads, are carried by rods or tubes 16 telescopically mounted in the rear tubes 3 of the frames.
