An aircraft landing gear comprises a strut 10 pivoted to the aircraft frame 9, a brace 17 pivoted to the strut at 19 and to the frame at 21 and formed in two sections pivoted at 38 and means for rotating the connection 38 between positions in which its axis is parallel and non- parallel to the pivots 19, 21. In Fig. 1, the strut 10 forms part of a shock absorbing leg, and cylinders 23, 24 are pivoted to the strut and frame respectively, and fit within cylinders 28, 29 so as to be relatively rotatable but not axially movable with respect thereto. Lugs 37 on the cylinders 28, 29 are pivoted at 38. The rod 41 of a jack 39 is ball-jointed to cylinder 29. On retraction from the Fig. 1 position, the jack first rotates cylinder 29 until the axis of pivot 38 is parallel to those of pivots 19, 21. Further movement of the jack retracts the undercarriage as shown in Fig. 2. On extension, the undercarriage lowers until the cylinder 24 abuts a fixed projection 47. Further extension of the jack then rotates cylinders 29 and 28, until pivot 38 is in the Fig. 1 position, locking the undercarriage down. A rotary stop is fitted to cylinders 28 and 29, to limit the rotation thereof to the extremes shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
