810,526. Photographic processes. METEOR APPARATEBAU P. SCHMECK G. m. b. H. Nov. 12, 1956, No. 34548/56. Class 98(2) [Also in Group XL (a)] Apparatus for obtaining a positive image of a photographic negative by means of I.R. light passed through the negative on to a luminescent screen excited by non-visible U.V. light comprises a mercury vapour lamp 7 irradiating the luminescent screen 6 with U. V. light of 360-400 mÁ wave length,a source 1 emitting I.R. light through the condenser system 2, having a filter 3 (Schott-filter R.G.9) transmitting light of 780-900 mÁ, and then through the negative 4 and optical system 5 on to the mirror 8, and screen 6. A blue filter 9 (Schott-filter B.G. 18), filtering substantially all light with wave lengths greater than about 600 mÁ, is positioned between the observer and the screen 6. The screen 6 comprises activated zinc sulphide phosphors of very fine granulation having two regions of maximum quenching capacity, one at about 780-900 mÁ, and the other at about 1,300 mÁ.
