Abstract

809,903. Injectors. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Oct. 30, 1956 [Jan 13, 1956], No. 33139/56. Class 71. [Also in Group X] A nozzle member 23 comprises two opposed, quadrant shaped, planar walls 40, 41, the arcuate portions 44<SP>1</SP>, 44<SP>11</SP> of which are joined by an arcuate end wall 45, and a top wall 46 connecting two opposite portions 42<SP>1</SP>, 42<SP>11</SP> of the walls 40, 41 and having a plurality of nozzles 47 therein through which jets of air may be discharged substantially upwardly from the nozzle member, the edges of the remaining planar portions 43<SP>1</SP>, 43<SP>11</SP>, the top wall 46, and the arcuate end wall 45, forming an inlet 49 in one side of the nozzle member for entrance of air. The nozzles 47 are arranged in two parallel rows, the nozzles in one row being offset, in the direction of the rows, from the nozzles in the other row, and a nozzle in one row being axially offset through an angle of 35 degrees with respect to a nozzle in the other row. Lines drawn to prolong the inner wall surfaces of the nozzle nearest to the inlet 49, Fig. 3, form an angle of substantially 52 degrees at the juncture thereof, while the lines drawn to prolong the inner wall surfaces of the remaining nozzles form angles of substantially 35 degrees at their junctures. A flange 50, surrounding the inlet 49, has a groove 51 to receive the edge of an opening in a wall, e.g. of a plenum chamber in air conditioning apparatus, (see Group X).
