Abstract

803,905. Roller conveyers. HUTTENWERK RHEINHAUSEN, A. G. Jan. 2, 1957 [Jan. 3, 1956], No. 194/57. Class 78 (1). An ingot tipper is designed to tip heavy blocks and blooms from a vertical or inclined position in either direction on to the roll table of a rolling mill. The tipper consists of discs 4, 5, Fig. 1, in which two rows of rollers 6 ... 8 and 11 ... 14, Fig. 2, are mounted and which are supported by sets of parallel rollers 2, 3 arranged in circular arcs. The discs are connected by a heavy cross-piece 43 and the rollers 2, 3 are mounted in a frame 1 which can be dismantled rapidly. The roller 6 is mounted at the centre of the discs and the rollers 7, 8 are mounted in slots 9, 10 in them. The rollers 11, 12 are connected to a driving motor 12a and the rollers 13, 14 are mounted in angular guide slots 15, 16. The trunnions 17, 18 of the rollers 13, 14 are engaged by the enlarged heads 22 ... 24 of supports 19 ... 21 mounted on the frame. The supports 19 ... 21 are engaged by levers 27 ... 29 which are fast on shafts 25, 26 and are pressed against the supports by counterweights 30 ... 32 connected to arms on the shafts. A gear 35 secured to the disc 5 is driven by a motor 36. One disc has equally-spaced notches 38 ... 40 which are engageable by a pawl 41 movable in a cylinder 42 and actuated, e.g. electromagnetically. When a block 44 is to be lowered on to the roll table 45 to travel to the left, it is lowered on to the roller 14, Fig. 2, and tilted towards the rollers 6 ... 8 causing the rollers 7, 8 to move along their slots to the position shown in Fig. 3. The pawl 41 is withdrawn and the motor 36 started. This causes the tipper to turn to the position shown in Fig. 4 in which the block is horizontal. In this position the pawl re-engages a notch and the tipper is locked. The block can then be moved on to the table. When the pawl is disengaged, the tipper is returned to its initial position by the counterweights.
