Abstract

A low alloy high strength steel has the following composition: C 0.12-0.21 per cent; Mn 0.50-1.00 per cent; Si 0.10-0.75 per cent; Cu 0-0.50 per cent; Cr 0.30-0.75 per cent; Mo 0.14-0.45 per cent; V 0.03-0.10 per cent; Ti 0.01-0.03 per cent; B 0.0005-0.005 per cent; Fe the balance. The alloy may be heated to 1675 DEG F., quenched in water and tempered for one hour at 1175 DEG F.
