799,640. Collapsible boxes; packaging. LICHTENSTEIN, B. Oct. 26, 1956 [Nov. 1, 1955], No. 31175/55. Classes 18 and 94(1) A collapsible crate or framework for a package comprises corner-pieces 10 each having three walls at right angles to contain a pyramid, and angle section base members 11, top member 12 and vertical members 13. The corner pieces are formed with three faces 14, 15 and 16, each of which has on its inside a pair of bent-over lugs 17 which slidably receive and hold between them the ends of the angle section members 11, 12 and 13. Each face is also provided with stops 18, which limit the movement of the members into the corner-pieces, as their square-cut ends abut on said stops. The base and vertical angle members 11, 13 are first placed in the bottom corner pieces 10, the packages inserted and the top frame 12 then formed and applied to the crate by fitting its corner pieces 10 over the upper ends of the vertical members 13. Finally ties 19 are applied to hold the parts together. One of the corner-pieces 10 may be without the lugs 17, being the last to be applied to the fully packed crate, and can be secured by a wire or strap bound round the corners.
