Abstract

798,924. Cable terminals; sleeve couplings. AMP, Inc. March 18, 1957 [April 11, 1956], No. 8822/57. Class 38 (1). In a terminal connector comprising a ferrule 12 having an apertured tongue 10 and into which fits a cylinder 16 containing corrosioninhibiting material 24, the ends of the cylinder are closed by puncturable or removable closure members 18, 22. As shown, one end of the cylinder is enlarged at 14 for subsequent crimping on to the insulation of a cable and is closed by a polythene plug 18 whilst an aperture 20 in the other end is closed by a small plug 22 of, for example, nylon. The enlarged portion 14 may be made integral with the ferrule 12 or omitted if desired. In these cases the plugs 18, 22 may fit directly into the ferrule 12 and plug 18 may be replaced by a cap. The connector may be double-ended. Specifications 755,272 and 790,744 are referred to.
