Abstract
796,708. Watches. PIQUEREZ, E. Jan. 30, 1956 [Feb. 10. 1955; June 13, 1955], No. 2872/56. Class 139 In a timepiece one of the co-operating surfaces of a button and the case is curved. The button 1, Fig. 1a, is screwed to the stem 3 and its sleeve 2 is curved as shown to abut the inside wall of the opening in the caseband. The button may be of metal and the caseband of plastic or vice versa. The curved surface of the sleeve may abut a plastic or metal sleeve located in the stem opening. In another example, Fig. ,3a, the plastic crown 7 enters a sleeve 12 in the opening 10 of the caseband 11 and the outer surface of the sleeve is curved at 13 to abut the inner wall 9 of the crown. If the crown is of metal the sleeve is of plastic with an inset metal reinforcing ring. The curved surface may be on the internal surface of the sleeve to cooperate with the external surface of the central tube of the crown. The metal sleeve 21 may be stepped as shown in Fig. 4a to co-operate with a curved surface 19 of the plastic button. If the button is of metal the stepped sleeve is of plastic with an inset reinforcing metallic member. In another example. Fig. 5, the metallic sleeve 35 is fixed only'at its upper end to the caseband to allow of a slight lateral shifting of the button. In another example, Fig. 6, the plastic button has an internal groove 44 in which is located a split spring 45 which presses the curved surface 41 against the internal wall 42 of the caseband opening. In still another example, Fig. 7, the plastic button 52 has a metal cover 53 and a metal socket 54 by which it is slidably but non-rotatably fitted to the winding and setting stem 55. The button is normally locked by detent members 60, 61, one carried by the caseband and the other by the button. The locking may however be effected by screwing the button to the caseband or to a ring fixed thereto, Figs. 10 and 12 (not shown),
