Abstract

751,461. Clocks and watches. STRAUMANN, R. Oct. 4, 1954 [Oct. 8, 1953], No. 28530/54. Class 139 In a slip coupling for the barrel of a self-winding timepiece direct sliding of metal surfaces over each other upon overwinding is prevented by the provision intermediate said surfaces of a layer of synthetic resinous material. The outer end of the main spring b, Fig. 3, is secured to a friction spring ring d and a ring e of a synthetic resinous material is fitted inside the barrel a. The ring e may be complete or gapped and may be rigidly secured to the barrel or slidingly fitted in the same barrel wall. Upon overwinding the spring d slips over the lining e. If the spring d is attached to the inside surface of the outer end of the main spring the end of the main spring slips over the layer of synthetic resinous material on overwinding. The synthetic layer may be secured to the outer surface of the friction spring or of the end of the main spring.
