793,666. Rubber compression-springs. NATIONAL MALLEABLE & STEEL CASTINGS CO. March 15, 1956 [April 1, 1955], No. 8109/56. Class 108(3) A spring device comprises a plurality of spaced plates 10 and a layer of resilient material 12 disposed between and moulded to adjacent plates 10, each layer of material 12 having spaced parallel openings 14 extending through the layer parallel to, and in spaced relation with, the plates 10, and adapted to receive deformed portions of the material 12 on compression of the device. In operation, on compression, the openings 14 and peripheral recesses 20, gradually become filled with the material 12, and are completely filled when the device is compressed to 48 per cent. of its uncompressed length. In the manufacture of the device, mould elements (not shown) which serve to form the openings 14, also serve to introduce heat into the interior of the rubber for the purpose of curing
