Abstract

788,941. Manually-actuated valves. QUICKFIT & QUARTZ, Ltd. Nov. 16, 1955 (Nov. 25, 1954], No. 34256/54. Class 135. A shutter valve comprises two glass sideplates 4, 4a apertured at 5, 5a and sealed against oppositely disposed pipe ends 2, 2a, a glass shutter 10 apertured at 11, eccentrically pivoted at 9 and sandwiched between the plates for controlling flow through the pipe ends and resilient means 13 for pressing the plates and shutters together. The plates are welded or sealed by rubber gaskets 3, 3a to the pipe ends and the widened pipe ends carry rubber washers 6, 6a supporting rings 7, 7a carrying spring-loaded bolts, one of which provides the pivot for the shutter.
