Abstract
785,649. Mixing fluids in flow. METAL & PIPELINE ENDURANCE. Ltd. and VIVIAN, A. C. Dec. 13, 1955 [Feb. 4, 1955], No. 3411/55. Class 86 Apparatus for feeding fluid into a pipe line 10 comprises a closed container 13 for a liquid 14, a pipe 15 one end of which communicates with the pipe line 10 and the other end of which extends through the base of the container 13 and terminates above the level of liquid 14, and a second pipe 17 which communicates with the bottom of the container 13 and also with the pipe line 10 through an adjustable control valve 18. A drip feed sight glass 19 is incorporated in the pipe 17 and the pipe 15 is provided with a control valve 16. In a modification, a tracer gas which is soluble in the liquid contained in the container 14 is fed through a control cock 23, Fig. 3, and small pipe 24 to the pipe 17. For feeding an insoluble tracer gas into the pipe line 10, the pipe 17 is closed at its lower end 20, Fig. 2 and tracer gas is supplied through a small pipe 21 having a control cock 22, and bubbles up through water in the pipe 17 and container 13 and then down through the pipe 15 into the pipe line 10.
