Abstract
785,550. Typewriters. OLYMPIA WERKE AKT.-GES. Jan. 27, 1955 [Jan. 27, 1954], No. 2530/55. Class 100(4) In a typewriter provided with a key-lever 21, which, when held in its lower position, causes double-letter space typing to be effected, the key-lever action comprising a quadrilateral linkage (key-lever 21, link bar 23, link lever 24 and locking lever 25) wherein the lever 25 locks behind a key-lever guide 4 upon the first depression of the key-lever and is released on the second depression by the engagement of a lug 21b on keylever 21. The rightward locK- ing movement of the locking lever 25 is imparted by a pin 31 on the link lever 24 which by the key action is turned clockwise. At the same time, the lever 24 pulls a wire 20, pivots a lever 18, and raises an actuator 16, so that when a typeaction ocurrs and the universal bar 8 of the typewriter is operated, the actuator engages a fork 13a, pivots a shaft 12, and lifts a member 35 which adjusts the escapement mechanism for double letterspacing. A slotted connection 25a allows a certain play so that the lug 21b is able to move behind a bent portion 25c of the locking lever 25. When the second depression ocurrs the lug 21b presses down on the bent portion 25c, rotates the locking lever 25 until lug 21b and bent portion 25c are disengaged.
