Abstract

784,916. Electromagnetic couplings. ELEKTRO-MECHANIK GES. Oct. 7, 1955 [Oct. 7, 1954], No. 28615/55. Class 35. A powder clutch with one member at least partially surrounding the other, has a stationary winding projecting into an annular space 'formed in one member or by both members through the open side thereof. The coil 10 with its core 26 is carried by the end bracket 11 of a motor or generator depending whether the pulley 14, or gear, forming part of one rotary clutch member drives or is driven. The other rotary clutch member is a magnetic cup 13 on sleeve 12 coupled to the motor or generator. The clutch member of which pulley 14 forms part is completed by magnetic member 15 and non-magnetic ring 20, the latter with sealing ring 18 and end cover 19 completing the space available to the powder. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 649,553, [Group XXXIV].
