782,070. Load-handling machines. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. June 1, 1956 [Sept. 15, 1955], No. 16945/56. Class 78 (3). A load - handling apparatus comprises a trolley 2 running on overhead rails 1 and supporting fixed guides 3, movable guides 8, 10 and a fork carriage 13 which are mounted telescopically on guides 3, and means for simultaneously raising the movable guides and carriage at such relative speeds that the fork 12 and the lower ends of guides 8, 10 pass the lower ends of guides 3 at substantially the same instant. This means consists of a series of winch drums or sprockets 5, 6, 7 of graded diameters which are driven at the same speed by a motor 4, and which operate cables or chains 15, 16, 17. Rails 1 are mounted for movement on further rails (not shown) arranged at right angles to rails 1. In a modification (not shown) the drums or sprockets are of the same diameter and are driven at different speeds.
