Abstract

[Also in Division D2] An apparatus for delivering a flowable material, e.g. fibre in suspension, from a stationary source 10 to any point on a wet paper mat 2 between two points spaced apart by a distance L, comprises a hose 9 having a nozzle 12 on a movable carriage 13 and a pulley 6 movable a distance L/2 along a track 8 and aroundwhich pulley the hose passes. The arrangement is such that when the nozzle 12 is in its mid-travel position the distance from the source 10 to the pulley is at least L/4. The carriage 13 is driven along a channel track 11 by a chain coupled thereto and passing around pulleys 4, 5. The hose 19 passes around the pulley 4 betyween the pulley 6 and the carriage 13. The pulley 6 comprises a toothed wheel coaxially mounted with a hose receiving portion rotatable relative to the wheel, the latter running along the track 8 formed by a rack and being drivingly engaged by the chain 3.
