Abstract
779,034. Watches. PIQUEREZ, E. May 10, 1955 [May 17, 1954; May 25, 1954; March 15, 1955], No. 13471/55. Class 139. A watch or chronograph comprises a winding stem, push button or other control member which includes a solid section of a non- metallic compressible material which directly engages a part of the watch case. The movement 4, Fig. 1, is located in a case comprising a combined bezel and caseband 1, a back 2 and a glass 3. The winding stem 5 and a crown 6 integral therewith are made of a synthetic resinous material e.g. Nylon. The crown 6 is coated with a metallic film 7. In another example, Fig. 2 (not shown) only that section of the stem which passes through the caseband is of a synthetic resinous material the inner section and the crown being of metal. The crown may however be integral with the section of synthetic material. In another example, Fig. 3, the caseband 12 has a sleeve or pipe 13 through which the winding stem 17 passes. The extremity of the sleeve is located in a groove 16 in the crown which has a metallic coating 15. In another example, Fig. 4 (not shown) the crown is of a synthetic resinous material and has an integral sleeve which is located in a bore in the caseband. In another example, Fig. 5, the crown 26 having a metallic coating 27 screws on to a sleeve 23 extending from the caseband 22. When the crown is in the position shown the surface 29 bears against a flange 24 of the sleeve 23. In the last example, Fig. 6 (not shown) a metal socket is fixed in the crown and screwed on to the winding stem and into a sleeve. The synthetic material used in the above examples may be polyamide, a vinylic resin or a polystyrene.
