Abstract

777,267. Snap-action switches. PLESSEY CO., Ltd. Nov. 11, 1955 [Nov. 12, 1954]. No. 32783/54. Class 38(5) A toggle switch comprises a lever 2 having a part 3 pivoting in a hole in the casing 4 and connected by a torsion spring 11 to an insulating plate 5. The latter has a recess 8 receiving a roller 9 on the spring 11 and loosely carries two contacts 6 adapted to be brought into bridging engagement with fixed contacts 13, 14 on sliding movement of plate 5. The fixed contacts have corrugated portions forced into slots 15 in the casing so as to mount them securely, and terminal portions 18, parts 19 of which are upset to lock them in position. The plate 5 may move rectilinearly, as shown, or along an arc. The switch can be coupled to an adjustable resistance.
