Abstract
774,755. Rotary pumps. ZGOLL, F. July 21, 1955 [July 21, 1954; Oct. 18, 1954; May 10, 1955; July 19, 1955], No. 21197/55. Class 110 (2). In a pump or compressor of the gyratory piston type, Fig. 1, the abutment 15 is fixed or pivoted to the stationary or revolving casing 11 and slides in an anti-friction lining 16 of graphite, self-lubricating artificial resin, molybdenum sulphide, silicone resin or sinter metals. In a modification, the casing is provided with dove-tailed grooves containing spring-loaded anti-friction linings and in a further modification the rotor is provided with like grooves containing anti-friction inserts (see Figs. 3 and 4 respectively, not shown). The pump may constitute a multi-stage unit by dividing the pumping space axially by one or more dividing walls or dividing it radially by additional vanes. The shaft may constitute an inlet channel for the pump, the rotor may be mounted on needle bearings and the stator provided with cooling ribs (see Fig. 5, not shown). The end faces of the casing may be provided with anti-friction inserts (see Figs. 5, 6, 7 and 8, not shown) or the rotor provided with spring-loaded sealing discs 84, Fig. 9. The rotor may be provided with undercut recesses containing spring-loaded antifriction inserts (see Figs. 14-20, not shown). Again, the rotor 101 may be provided with a sleeve 109 which is urged by spring-loaded members 106, 107 into contact with the casing (see Fig. 21a and also Figs. 21 and 22, not shown). The inlet and outlet conduits may be disposed adjacent the fixed abutment (see Fig. 23, not shown), or the inlet conduit may be disposed in the fixed abutment 123, Fig. 24 (not shown). The rotor may be provided with non-radial inserts (see Fig. 31, not shown).
