773,596. Securing ceiling and wall boards. DAVIES, J. G., CARTWRIGHT, M. A., CARTWRIGHT, E. D., [Representatives of CARTWRIGHT, H. N.], and PATTERSON, R. H. April 27, 1955 [April 27, 1954], No. 12240/54. Class 20(4) The web 2 of a T-section rail 1, which supports ceiling, or wall, boards 9 on its flanges 3, as shown, has tongues 4 cut out and bent outward to form slots 5 for the reception of securing clips 6, each of which has pressed out tongue 7 near the centre for engaging the corresponding tongue 4, and barbs 8 at its ends, which dig into the top surfaces of the boards to hold them securely in position. In a modification, Fig. 3, the slots in the web 11 of an extended rail 10 each have an enlarged part 13 and a narrow part 14, and each slip 15 has two spaced apart tongues 16 which are cut out and bent up at right angles to the clip. In use each clip 15 is passed partly through the larger part 13 of a slot so that one tongue 16, is arranged on either side of the web, the clip is then raised and moved laterally into the narrow slot part 14, so that the tongues 16 grip the web 11. The barbs 17 dig into the top surfaces of the boards.
